Ok, I was a little uncertain about how to rate this Wii accessory. The trick is that the cable works FIVE STARS based on the fact that he does what he is supposed to. A star for the fact that the Wii is awful on an HDTV with a component cable like this. Again, not the fault of the cable. . . the fact of the matter is, the graphics on the Nintendo Wii are only the standard resolution. When you plug a HD cable to an HDTV, you'll see all the edges and textures that crappy Wii graphics provide. A standard RCA cable seems to smooth this out a little. My recommendation is to stay with the RCA cable until the next gen Wii is released. The only options in the Wii menu when you have the component cable is connected to switch 480i (interlaced) to 480p (progressive), but the resolution (the 480) remains the same. Again, a component cable on the Wii will accentuate the jagged edges around characters and objects, the textures are a little clearer to improve things like menus and text. But the jagged 3D objects (such as the characters in Wii Sports) are just distractions and disappointing.

This cable does not seem to be sheilded, as I discovered the other day when my wife has used the vacuum of the screen went black every time she came near the area I was in, I would not know that, even if it was not used. Other than that the cable works well and the picture quality is good. So just do not empty using the Wii.
