I know there were always questions that compare the 3 systems. But I feel that it is interesting to see this from a different perspective each time.
In light of the latest announcement by Sony on their new SKU(the PS3 Slim) a $100 price cut across the board, announced peripherals (the PS3 motion control due Spring 2010) as well as long awaited, almost “vapourwarish” exclusive games such as Gran Turismo 5, Final Fantasy XIII(which is exclusive in Japan), as well as many other AAA titles(Uncharted 2, MAG, God of War III etc.) ; looking from today’s perspective, how does the tide of the console war looks?

In short answer, yes.
PS3:
Technologically superior in all aspects: Games, hardware, firmware, online, etc….
IMO if the ps3 came out the same year as the 360, everyone would’ve bought it.
Microsoft finds every which way to bleed you dry of your cash, which is why the ps3 is also supperior.
The ps3 offers what should be free for free. (no one wants to pay for a 3 minute demo, trust me)

Also what people fail to see is that the amount of stuff you buy for the 360 totals way over the price of a ps3.
XBL, demos, wifi,etc… You all have to pay for.
Here’s the real kicker, you pay for XBL, yet they constantly have ads.
I’m not one for ad services but, isn’t something with ads usually free?
As for the Wii:
The online is free, the selection of games is great ( GC, Wii, and Virtual Console).
The Motion controls are really fun, especially in an fps.
IMO, the PS3 and the Wii would be in 1st, and the 360 would be in 3rd.
Well, if you look at specs, PS3 is still technically the best game system available. However, Sony makes horrible decisions in order to lower the price of the systems.
Case in Point: 60 gig ps3 (first edition) is by far the best ps3, with wifi, backwards compatibility; where as the slim is by far the worst, with no backwards compatibility and no way to add a new hard drive.
Not to mention the legion of fanboys who will always keep the XBOX’s sales up.
It’s hard to tell.
In terms of sales, the PS3 will always lag behind the 360 for at least 5 million and just no way will the PS3 reach 40 million in the next 2 years.
In terms of games, features, reliability and power, the PS3 is by far the best on the market.
It’s currently the most powerful console ever made.
Hopefully Sony can get the PS4 to become the next PS2 with bursting sales reaching the almost-impossible 100m milestone (PS1 and PS2 both sold more than 100m consoles but I don’t think that the PS3 will reach anywhere near that.)
Nope, Sony lost this one. Things may get a little more heated, but remember we’re nearing the end of the generation anyway.
The 360 Elite is coming out at the same price as the Slim, but with a larger hard drive. Xbox Live will still remain as the superior online, despite its small fee, you get what you pay for.
Yeah, both Sony and Microsoft will be releasing motion control, but developers already say they think its stupid and are not going to develop for them.
Nothing will touch Nintendo this time around though.

I think it might since the Wii had a huge head start and PS3 would have a lot of catching up. Like I mean they have to be really aggressive of what they are doing like now (how the commercials, price, features are.) It has to keep on going in order to hook different people up to buy a PS3.
But who knows….
I don’t think so. The Wii is the console that has sold best because it attracts a wider audience and because it’s the cheapest of the three consoles.
With the PS3 Slim things are finally changed. Now the prices are all so close together the real war kind of starts…. for now.
The wii is nice for grandpa’s and still is struggling to find any good games made by someone other than Nintendo.
PS3 is got a good system. And for now its going to work, they still struggle with Game sales, but probably make up for it in Blu-ray movie sales. Thats the problem with Ps3, how many bought the system to play games?
Xbox 360 selling so many means more of your friends have it. This means your more likely to get it. And now with the Xbox 360 Elite being the same price the battle is going to be close.
So who is going to win? Nobody right now. I think Xbox and Ps3 are going to be even for a while now, and wii is going to start to have slower sales. the PS3 still needs to make up a lot of sales to even catch Wii and Xbox 360.
That is until next year when these Motion Controllers come out. With PS3 having having some stick, vs Microsoft Natal (full body motion). PS3 stick seems nice for a limited type of games (Swords, Baseball, maybe golf) but not sure how it would be used in other games? Natal seems good in action, running, jumping type games, maybe soccer, they showed how it can work with Burnout (not sure how a motion stick would work with burnout) but there is still to much unknown about Natal with out using a controller at all.
Natal has the biggest chance of success, but also the biggest chance for failure.
I think the war is still going. PS3 was almost down for the count until the Ps3 Slim, now they do have another round in them. until next year.

Ok I like ps3 Cause its the best console it is more sexier then xbox.it is more cheap then xbox.it has more features then xbox, it has blu ray, it has more hard drive more then xbox and also you can play online games free so it is best to buy PS3 or PS3 Slim.
Well the PS3 Slim has a lot of pre orders. It is Amazons number one pre order. And you here from many people that they really want a PS3, but it is so damn expensive that they can’t buy it. Now they have a huge advantage. 300 bucks for a PS3 is a steal. It will definitely push 360 in third place. This may also go far enough to beat the Wii. I mean PS2 had a huge fan base. Over a 100 million for PS1 and over 150 million for PS2. So this gives a huge chance for Sony to outsell Microsoft. Christmas is coming as well so around that time Sony will take second. It is not going be a Halo Christmas either since Halo 3 pretty much sucked. It is going to be a Modern Warfare 2 Christmas which is a multi-platform game available for PS3. Oh and I forgot that PS3 software sales have gone up too. If you are still not convinced think about it this way. PS2 was 300 bucks in its release, and the PS2 sold crazy. So PS3s are most likely to sell crazy to. Crazy enough to outsell 360s and probably the Wii. Hardcore advertising would expand the PS3 sales even more.
