The Wii can connect to the internet if you have internet access in your home. By default it connects through WiFi but you can purchase a LAN connector ( http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8193466&st=wii+adapter&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1164157285316 ) so it connects through a cabled connection.
The wireless connection needs to connect to a wireless router or you can purchase a WiFi USB connector for your PC to share your PC’s internet connection to the Wii ( http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8267298&st=wii+wi&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=1170290206075 ).
Once you have one of those three types of internet connections available follow the steps here: http://www.wiichat.com/nintendo-wii-online/5820-official-wii-wireless-internet-connection-guide.html
If you are using a router to connect to the internet and you have security set up you will need to check that those settings, which are router specific, will allow the Wii to connect.
Edit:
Go http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/online.jsp and select Setting Up Your Internet Connection
Hi,
Assuming that you are trying to connect using Wi-Fi,
Go to your router’s connection settings and make sure that it’s set for 802.11 b/g (both) or if it only offers one or the other, select 802.11 b.
Hope that helps
Danny
you have to disable your security codes and fire wall to connect easier
