In my Mario Kart Wii game the karts and bikes have different names why is this.?

For example when I look at a Help site it would say Twinkle Star, while in my game it would say Shooting Star.

    They have different names in US and Japan.

    Just like chinese, english, and japanese are all different names the bikes and karts have different names to. when translating the asian form of the “shooting star” to English it is twinkle star. but nintendo probably thought it would sound reallllllllly chesy to call it that (so do i) so they slightly modified it to be shooting star.

    It all depends on translation my good friend.
