There will be a Kingdom Hearts III, but SE’s not working on it at the moment because right now, SE is making three (yes, three) side games that CONNECT to KH3:
Birth by Sleep (PSP) – Set 10 years before KH1 and stars Keyblade warriors Terra, Aqua, and Ventus. This game answers questions regarding the past of KH, including mysteries surrounding Xehanort’s memories.
358/2 Days (DS) – Set in between CoM and KH2 and stars Roxas and the Organization. A 14th member named “Xion” was apparently in the Organization. This game answers many questions regarding what Roxas did and thought during his year in the Organization.
Coded (mobile phones) – Set after KH2 (but before KH3) and stars Mickey, Jiminy, and a data version of Sora. Jiminy finds a message in his journal that he didn’t write, so Mickey sends a data Sora into the journal to find the “bug”. Clears up all the unanswered phenomena in the KH series, plus has a big twist that changes the fate of Sora.
All of these games connect to each other and KH3.
