My Nintendo Wii won’t turn on. We had a storm today and the power went out for a second. My Wii was plugged in, but I wasn’t playing with it at the time. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it the Wii or the AC Adapter? Is it broken for good?

Hello,
I would say your wii is blown when you have a power surge the wii cant take it and it doesn’t work any more I would take it in and ask them if they can replace it for you or ask them to try to turn it on and see if they say there is a problem with it, if there is they will give you a New one that is only if you take it back in before they day you reciet expires… Have you tryed another outlet in the house because that could be the problem to I would check all that out before you take it in to get it replaced…
Best of luck to you

This is whats happen to me, and everyone in my hometown. It is the classic example of lightning hitting on direct or near your houses electricity outlet. What happens os a HUGE surge of energy hit the wires in your box (or other such thing that puts electricity to your house) and made a huge surge of electricity all over to the outlets. The wires hooked into the outlet carry that huge amount of electricity to your electronic system and kills it because of an overload of energy. Even things that are off can be affected. However, as you probably SHOULD know- the Wii never sleeps. It never “turns off” unless you disconnect your power cord. If it has a red, green or yellow light shining on the Wii’s power button- this means the Wii is standing buy and barely using any electricity. It probably means a fatal blow to your console unless…
PART 2
It was 2 years ago- I was playing my PSone. A huge bolt of lightning hit a power box and my PSone was supposivly dead for 1 year. Then, my friend gave me his old AC cord. I plug it in after I get home and the PSone was saved. It was because the AC cord died.
This is an unfortunate mistake everyone makes- throwing away a supposivly dead device. It probably was the AC cord- but there is no way of telling…
EDIT: Don’t listen to people who say that the Wii could never fry- only he AC adapter. My friends Wii was fried a week ago because of a small lighting bolt.
PART 3- ACTION
The #1 thing to do uis call Nintendo and talk to someone. My DS’s R button died and I was able to call Nintendo and get t repaired. If your a kid or doesn’t usually call a Help Center, let a respected person (parent, friend, relative, etc.) call in. Make sure to be polite.
Call Nintendo @

Odds are the wii itself didn’t get fried. That big brick looking object on the cable – it prevents that. The cable is prob bad though. Nintendo has the best customer support of any company, just call them. They’ll make it worth your time.
Also, permanent Red LED = Broken Wii
The storm may have short-circuited some parts. It could be the AC adapter, the Wii or both. You could have it sent to a professional, which is worth the cost. I don’t recommend opening it yourself. It will void the warrantee. Or you could wait a while and see what happens.
AC adapterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr not broken for good, buy a new adapter and if that doesn’t work just return the adapter back and take it out to fix. It will save you money then buying a whole new wii.
There is a good chance that it got fried. Talk to the manufacterer and see if you can get another one
ur wii is broken…wat??? thats is a personal problem…thats like sayin “my heart is broken”!!
u’ll be alright!
