I have updated my wii to menu 4.0U but I cannot play wii music anymore. The error message is
An error has occurred. Press eject button and remove the disc, then turn the Wii Console off and refer to the wii operations manual for help

Not sure what’s going on with you, but I updated to 4.0U through Nintendo and am successfully running Wii Music. Though I should mention I am using a D2Pro chip and a burned backup if that makes a difference.
