The Windows 7 kernel is the same kernel as Window Server 2008 [R2]. I really don think (Win7) is much better than vista………….. just better at hiding itself from the user.

@slicksterdave: you have obv no clue
what a sad little soldier you are and so insecure!
4 gig difference, doesn’t really matter unless you’re a dumbass and you use a 64 GB SSD.
hard drives are cheap.
depends, Windows 7 ultimate x86 takes 10.5 GB of space, I think Snow leopard might take 5-6GB .
a crap load of stuff? such as what?
No because to do what is done by ONE version of OS X MS in its wisdom decides to do it in six and install a crap load of stuff via the internet.
1 & 2 at least the forums are better than getting somebody that makes the Swedish Chef understandable.
3. How does that follow? If portability is your thing what else is there? Java?!
5. Right despite the improvements Cider and CrossOver have the SAME problems as WINE. Pull the other one it plays Jingle Bells…as sung by barking dogs.
its just modified a little bit, they had to fix the scheduler because intel was pissed off at them for their power saving features not working. that is big reason why they would not use Vista.
WOW.
FIRST thing is WRONG as USUAL.
Windows 7 kernel is vista sp3 kernel?
UHMM. Yeah, you have no clue how wrong you are.
Check the performance comparisons. Check the scheduler. Check the Virtualization technologies.
It’s NOT the same kernel. Actually if you check the performance on raw crunching, most of the figures are actualy quite in-line with windows XP’s performance (that’s GOOD news, btw).
Also, it has better multi-core usage, better prefetching.
Thats JUST the kernel btw.
1 & 2. The forums may be support, but it’s not a guaranteed right to the end user. I don’t care if it’s better or not, the forums are not official support.
3. You’re right, but the most logical way would result in Python not being the best language for the job.
5. Cider and CrossOver suck just as much as WINE does. The implementation of the Windows API in WINE is incomplete, inefficient and there are obviously bugs.
1 & 2. The forums are part of the support and are better than getting somebody who is stepping you through Obvious 101 and whose knowledge generally consists of what they are reading off a computer screen.
3. Depends on how it is doing it.
5. Cider and Crossover are commercial versions of WINE and their forums are not flooded by complaints about performance hits. What there is is generally not noticeable.
windows comes less bloated than OS X, it’s true
is that ibpointless2’s buddy LOLOLOL
@shojingod its built in to OS X 10.6
Where did you get the background. Nice background. Can tell me where you got it? P.S. I love all computers MAC’s and PC’s they each have there good sides and bad sides. For most people they do most of the same things, word processing, email and web, music and video.
Eric you do know I use Macs as well as Windows. So I see PCs and Macs from all sides, and not a narrow blinkered BS Cupertino tainted image of things which you so obviously do.
So says Eric the fanboi who’s never used Windows in a month of Sundays.
I don’t even use iTunes on a Mac because its crap and always falling over. One just drags the MP3s to the SONY WALKMAN or one uses DoubleTwist.
I use a SONY WALKMAN because the SQ on iPods just sucks so bad.
1. No, it has terrible support. The Ubuntu forums do not count.
2. Sure, it may be a joke, but at least I’m entitled to it through my warranty.
3. It’s the wrong tool for the wrong job. Using an interpreted language for something that’s constantly running = no.
5. Yeah, because we all know WINE is perfectly implemented and takes absolutely no performance hits.
And Windows 2000 would probably be even faster on a modern machine, because it uses less resources!
The point is, these OSes do less out of the box, are less secure and unsupported. Even if they have marginally better performance in some random ass application, they’re not meant to be used.
Microsoft doesn’t include unnecessary junk with Windows, OEMs install it after they install Windows. Almost everything in Windows is useful to some extent for the average user.
iTunes does run poorly on OS X, it uses a large amount of RAM and CPU on my friend’s MacBook. Compared to other music programs, such as SongBird, it’s bloated.
Lol, hillbilly computer nerd, I love it.
more durable, macs are not as durable although they are not bad laptops. durable is very important to me.
i argue its not. In fact, in some areas XP is faster.
That is completely ASS TALK. Everything you say is bullshit. Itunes runs perfect, if it dont on windows. well, i dont care. I dont use windows.
You calling out apple for installing “unnecessary junk” And This is coming from a windows user. HA, thats a joke.
7 = Vista SP3?
If that’s the case, then Snow Leopard = Leopard 10.5.9 being that it isn’t much different.
Mac users that bash on Windows 7 for being similar to Vista are complete hypocrites…
